Recipe Notes
Save the baggies and just leave the instant oatmeal mixture in a container in your pantry along with a 1/2 cup measurer and instructions for preparation.
Quick question: your ingredients list “quick cooking” oats, but in your photo you’ve got “Old Fashioned” oats which are rolled (and not quick!) I’d prefer to use old fashioned since they are less refined. Is that what you used? Do you have to add extra time when microwaving??
oops…I did put the wrong canister in the photo! I do use the quick-cooking oats, but I bet it will work with the old-fashioned and a little longer cooking time. Everyone’s microwave is different, so experiment and make notes on the recipe. Sorry for the confusion.
This is a fabulous idea, all the convenience of instant oatmeal without the added junk. I could make this and use a hotel coffee maker to heat water for breakfast on vacation. YAY!
You’re so clever! Only a travel writer would think like that!
I love this, I need to do this!
This is a good idea, and the kids would like to help in making it too (the little bags).
I love this idea! I’m really picky about oatmeal, I prefer it to be hearty with nuts in it. Now I can make it just how I want it!
Excellent tip! I finished my last oatmeal packet last week and the prices of late deters me from wanting to buy it. I always have all of those other ingredients here. I getting ready to put my smoothie stuff back in the freezer and try this today. Thanks.
This is very clever! Oatmeal would be so good for me, if I would not drown it in butter;) Great idea…thanks!
Wow! Thanks for the tip! My son is a huge fan of Quaker Oats. 🙂
