Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit Costco sells large bags of frozen strawberries and other frozen fruit for about $8
  • 1 cup milk whole milk, skim milk, soy milk, almond milk...your choice!
  • 6 oz. vanilla yogurt low fat, low carb, sugar free...any type will work!
  • 1/3 cup liquid egg whites optional
  • 1 scoop protein powder optional
  • handful of spinach optional

Instructions

  1. Place frozen fruit in the immersion blender cup.
  2. Defrost in the microwave for about 2 minutes or until the fruit is slightly thawed.
  3. Add milk and yogurt.
  4. If you opt for a protein burst, add the optional liquid egg whites or protein powder.
  5. If you want to sneak in a serving of veggies, add the optional spinach! I promise you won't taste it, but your smoothie won't be the most attractive color!
  6. Blend using an immersion blender. Immersion blenders are quicker and easier to use than a regular blender and clean up is a snap!

In this day and age anything that is quick is a bonus especially at breakie time. If it saves me 1/2 an hour I am all for it, more time to sleep in. Loved the recipes and the thoughtful content. Thanks Mary

This is a really good recipe, however I think i’d like it better without defrosting the fruit at all or that much. Also, I used part of a protein shake instead of the powder because the protein powder is so expensive compared to the shake. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Hi , I have a question, could I add a whole raw egg so I’d make it thicker and I know for health purposes I’d go with pasteurized ones

Or better yet, get the kids to make YOUR fruit smoothie!
The immersion blender looks like it makes this easy.

Do you taste the spinach? I don’t like the taste, but if it is hidden, then I’d absolutely love to add that in!!!

Can someone please remind my husband to get me one of those blenders for my birthday??? I put a note on his phone, but I’m not sure if he’ll remember.

All kidding aside though, this sounds delicious! I like to put a little honey in my smoothies for a little added sweetness. But, that does tend to crank up the calories a bit. I posted my smoothie recipe on my blog a week or so ago and then added up all of the calories, it was a ton! Of course, I add a lot of juice. I’ll have to try your recipe… it looks a lot healthier! Stumbled!
