Remember the time when everyone was giving scented candles as gifts? If you're like me, you probably have several unused candles lying around. Don't throw them away just yet. You can transform those boring old candles using ice. Yes, you read it right—ice. Read on to know how you can use this surprising ingredient to make pretty candles that are perfect for autumn.
What you need:
- Old candles
- An empty milk carton
- A bowl of crushed ice
- A toothpick or skewer
Instructions:
Step 1. Using a knife, carefully break your candles into small pieces. Keep one wick intact as you will use it later. Place the broken pieces into a cup and pour hot water. Set aside to and let everything melt.
Step 2. Grab the empty milk carton and create two small slits, one on each side. They have to be at the center of the carton and parallel to each other.
Step 3. Get the wick and roll it around a toothpick to make it a bit shorter. Place the toothpick into the slits, making sure the wick reaches the bottom of the carton.
Step 4. Take the bowl of crushed ice and fill 1/3 of the carton with ice.
Step 5. Pour the melted candle wax into the carton. Wait for it to cool down and completely harden.
Step 6. Once dry, remove the carton and skewer from the candle. Get rid of the water at the bottom and trim off the excess wick.
And you are done! Flip over your candle and light it up. For a detailed video tutorial, check out this link.
