Jewelries are your prized possessions and it would be great if they are organized and sealed in one place. You won't have to go to your local store to buy one because you can simply make a jewelry box yourself.
You only need:
- foam board
- fabric
- cardboard
- fabric glue
- scissors, glue
- masking tape
- ruler
- cutter
- decorative materials
First, cut a foam board square measuring 20 cm x 20 cm. From one edge, measure about 4 cm and do it to other 3 edges. This will serve as you squared corners. Leave dots to trace your measurement. Then, draw lines connecting them. Now, you have a square inside a square. Trim the corners using cutter for a clean cut.
Make shallow cuts along the lines you traced. You won't cut them. You are just making a shallow cut to fold the sides to create a box. Once done, flip the board and carefully fold the sides. Secure them with masking tape. Cover the box with your chosen fabric. Use fabric glue. Make sure the entire box is wrapped with cloth. After than, cut 10 cm x 10 cm cardboard and glue it at the bottom of the box.
Next, we will make the lid of the jewelry box. Cut square foam board measuring 11 cm x 11 cm. Apply glue and place foam square on top of it with the same measurements. Like what you did with the box, wrap the lid with fabric using fabric glue. Cut a 4 cm x 10 cm of fabric and glue half of it on the one top side of the box and the other half on the lid. This will connect the lid with the box. At the opposite side of the lid, stick a decorative ribbon which will allow you to open and close the box smoothly. You can now design your box using your decorative materials.
Get cardboard and cut 3 rectangle pieces measuring 10 cm x 3.5 cm. Get two pieces and determine the middle. Cut slits into those pieces up until the middle. For the third piece, cut two slits measuring 3.5 cm. Get the first piece and insert the slit into one of the slits of the third pieces. Do that also with the second piece on the second slit.
Make sure the pieces are together tightly. They will then create small boxes for your box in order to separate bracelets from necklace from rings. Carefully place it into the box. Arrange and secure. And you are finished! You have a wonderful jewelry box from scratch.
