The Great Money Hunt – Find Money!

find money

This is the time of the year we all wish money really did grow on trees…oh what fun that would be!

The joy of going to the mailbox and finding Christmas cards has been replaced with the dread of opening Christmas bills.

If you blew your Christmas budget, there is money to be found. Consider this…

“The average American has $56 in loose change lying around the house,” according to Coinstar.

“The average family has several thousand dollars worth of stuff lying around,” according to Cari Cucksey (HGTV’s Cash & Cari).

The average American household has $300 in unused gift cards hiding in drawers.

Are you average? There's one way to find out…go raid your piggy bank, clean out your wallet and clean out your house!

It's time for The Great Money Hunt.

It's time to find money.

Consider this a challenge.

Turn it into a family game.

Set a timer and see which family member can find the most loose change. Leave no sofa or chair cushion unturned, and don't forget to check your car. Clean out your purse…who knows what's hiding in there! Maybe coins, maybe gift cards, maybe both.

Is that gift card gathering dust in your drawer? Sell Your Gift Cards For Cash at Cardpool.com or go on a shopping spree with one caveat…spend gift cards only. Take it a step further, and use those unwanted gift cards to re-stock your gift closet.

Tackle one room, one closet or one bookshelf each week until you've gone through your entire house. Simplify the clean-out process by making 3 piles: sell, donate, trash. Now it's time to sell, sell, sell! Have a garage sale, sell on Ebay, try Craigslist or a consignment shop. Get the entire family involved by coming up with a “reward” – we'll use the money to go to Disneyworld or to buy a new TV.

What are you waiting for? It's time to begin The Great Money Hunt and find money!

Where's the strangest place you've ever found money? Please leave a comment to share and to make us laugh on a dreary January day.
