Did your New Year’s resolution have anything to do with saving money?
How’s it going? Were you part of the 25 percent who broke their resolution within the first week?
Don’t give up! Experts claim it takes 21 days to start a new habit or break an old one, so give your resolution a chance. I’m officially giving you a do-over.
Let’s start our frugal 2014 again!
How?
Take small bites. Instead of trying to change all of your bad spending habits at once, try one new way to save money until you get the hang of it. Then try another one and another one and another one.
Soon you’ll be ready to proudly perch the bargain queen tiara upon your head.

Which ones will you try?
My husband and I wanted to start renting out the spare room in our house on Airbnb.com in 2014. I want to use my half of the money generated from this solely for the purpose of paying down my student loans. So far, so good! We started renting the room out earlier this month (through Airbnb.com & Craigslist), and we are booked almost every week/month through May! I’ve also been using the proceeds toward my student loans only.
What a wonderful idea especially for young couples and empty nesters that aren’t using all the rooms they have.
Sometimes, we focus so much on cutting our spending that we forget about little ways to increase our income…thanks for sharing!
