Copper used to be a banking app for teens. But now, it's something totally different. Copper dropped the banking tools and turned into a rewards app where you can earn real money by doing simple things like playing games, taking surveys, uploading receipts, and referring friends.
I downloaded this revamped Copper app to test it out, and I was pretty impressed. There's a wide range of games to play for starters. And I also like that you can cash out real money through PayPal or Venmo alongside dozens of gift cards. Overall, I think the app is legit and holds up well against many of the top reward apps in the space.

How Does The Copper App Work?
As mentioned, you can download Copper for free from the Android or iOS app store. You then verify your SMS number and create an account with your email address. Finally, you complete a short profile questionnaire about the kinds of games you play and how you prefer to shop.
From there, there's a couple of ways you begin earning Creds, the in-app currency system:

- Scanning receipts
The gaming offers are where most of the earning potential is with Copper. And in my account, I had over a dozen games to choose from right off of the bat.
This includes tons of popular games, like Zynga Poker, Solitaire Cash, Merge Dragons, Crypto Magnet, Unpuzzle 3D, and many others.
These games also reflect the games I said I was interested in when I signed up. Games also show you how many Creds they pay in total. And when you tap on a game, it expands to show you the different milestones you need to complete to earn more Creds.
Overall, the gaming system is similar to other reward platforms like Freecash or Kashkick. I like the variety of games, and the UI is pretty easy to use.
Copper also lets you answer surveys from within the app to earn. Most surveys in my account pay about $0.15 to $1, which is pretty standard for survey apps.
Additionally, you can complete various download offers to earn bonuses. This includes signing up for various FinTech apps, banks, or trying out different products and services. And some of these bonuses payout $10 to $185 or more, which is pretty nice.
Finally, Copper lets you upload photos of your receipts to earn small $0.04 bonuses. This is similar to apps like Fetch, but I like that Copper has so many ways to earn aside from playing mobile games.
Cashing Out & Copper Rewards
One thing I like about Copper is that you only need 500 Creds to cash out a $5 reward. This is a very simple point system, and a $5 cash out minimum is competitive in the world of GPT apps.
The rewards are also excellent. PayPal cash and Venmo are available, and you rarely see Venmo as an option. You can also redeem dozens of free gift cards to companies like:

The main thing worth noting is that you have to download at least 3 games to unlock PayPal and Venmo payments. However, this also gives you a nice $1 bonus worth of Creds and is pretty easy to do.
Is Copper Legit?
Yes, Copper is legit. I’ve personally tried it, and the app does pay you for downloading games and completing other tasks like surveys. The app is listed on both the App Store and Google Play with thousands of reviews—most of them positive. On iOS, it holds a 4.8-star rating with over 70,000 reviews, which says a lot about how many people are using it and having a good experience.
They don’t ask for anything sketchy either. You just need an email and a payment method like PayPal or Venmo if you want to cash out. I didn’t need to link a bank account or give out any sensitive info. Although, you do have to verify your SMS phone number when signing up.
The biggest question I usually get with apps like this is “Does it really pay?” and the answer here is yes.
You earn “credits” inside the app, and once you hit the minimum (which is $5 for PayPal or Venmo), you can cash out. It took me about a week of light use to hit that amount, just doing surveys and scanning a few receipts after playing one game called Klondike after I signed up.
There aren't hidden fees or tricks to get your money. The app does run ads, and some offers lead you to other websites, but that’s pretty normal for rewards apps.
Just Note: Copper isn't going to make you a millionaire. This is a fun side hustle app but isn't a replacement for your day job!

Instead, anyone can use Copper to begin earning rewards from their daily tasks.

In my experience, most offers on Copper can pay you a couple dollars per hour at most. The gaming offers have the highest earning potential, followed by surveys and then receipt rewards.
That said, Copper has some decent download offers. So you might be able to snag $15 to $50 or even more if you sign up for a partner offer.
Overall, I think most people can easily make $25 to $50 per month with this app. All you need to do is complete a couple of surveys or gaming offers in your spare time to begin earning.
Also note that you can earn referral bonuses by inviting your friends. There's also streak and daily login bonuses that help increase your earning potential.

Overall, Copper has changed a lot from what it used to be, but the new rewards version works well. It’s easy to use, doesn’t feel scammy, and actually pays. If you’re okay doing small tasks like scanning receipts, trying out apps, or answering questions, it’s a decent way to earn some extra money on the side. You won’t get rich, and some tasks take a bit of patience, but the app is free and doesn’t ask for anything risky like bank details.
